The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has come under scrutiny from key digital asset industry leaders due to the latest lawsuits. Meanwhile, the SEC chairman and other officials hesitated to comment on the matter.
SEC commissioner Hester Peirce declined to answer in an interview about some of the activities that took place at the commission. When asked if there is anything you can whistle about with the SEC, the Commissioner said, "I can't answer that."
John Deaton, who represents XRP holders in the pivotal lawsuit against the SEC, took a look at this comment. He said nothing would stop the The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) commissioner from responding to it.
He added that Peirce can say that no one is suggesting that he has done anything wrong. However, there is no harm in starting an investigation into some conflicts. If in some way some law has been broken or mistakes have been made, the commission can learn from it.
The XRP attorney stated that the Empower oversight secured Hinman's ethical email. He underlined the SEC commissioner's comment that he found Hinman and Clayton ethical. However, it is a proven fact that Hinman is no longer on the line.
Meanwhile, Deaton said he had praised the SEC Commissioner for nearly 2 years. Jay Clayton and SEC chairman praised Gensler for speaking out against his clarity on the crypto space. XRP's attorney stated that he referred to Peirce's comments in his actions in court. Deaton added that there is nothing legal or ethical to prevent them from saying they want an investigation. However, if Hinman and Clayton are ethical in their dealings, then that's how it should be. However, he can admit to meeting Hinman despite being asked not to meet with his partners.
