Ethereum-based token Shiba Inu attracted attention in early 2021. Shiba Inu, one of the joke tokens, became the most viewed cryptocurrency according to CoinMarketCap data.

With 188 million views, the Shiba Inu further solidified its best-performing cryptocurrency epaulette of the year.

CoinMarketCap, which was acquired by crypto giant Binance in April 2020, has a staggering 340 million monthly views, according to digital intelligence provider Similarweb.

The flagship crypto Bitcoin received 145 million views and its rival meme coin Dogecoin 107 million views, with SHIBA at the top of the list. Leading altcoin Ethereum ranked fourth and fifth with 86 million views and Cardano 81 million views.

Shiba Inu is now listed on almost all major exchanges, including Coinbase, Bitfinex, Kraken and Gemini. As reported by U.Today, Bitstamp, Europe's number one exchange, will add support for SHIB in 2022 after delaying listing due to technical difficulties. According to data provided by local exchanges, Dogecoin rival was among the most traded cryptocurrencies in India.

Although the Shiba Inu is down 56.57% from its peak, its popularity shows no signs of waning. It reached over $1 billion in transaction volume in the last 24 hours.

SHIB remains the 13th cryptocurrency by market cap. In late October, the Shiba Inu hit the top 10 at the height of the frenzy and managed to surpass Dogecoin shortly after.

Countdown Starts for Shiba Inu Layer 2

The developers of meme coin SHIB responded to controversial layer 2 questions over various communication channels. It was announced that an upcoming development will fix the speed and high cost problems in the network. According to the statement, Shiba Inu will soon enter the metaverse space with a new layer analysis called Shibarium.

In the statement, it was reported that the SHIB team did not have to wait for the ETH 2.0 solution and focused on its own network. Founder Ryoshi also stated in a post on Medium that his L2 solution is focused on the Bone ShibaSwap cryptocurrency. It has been confirmed that the Shibarium project, which is expected to relax the network, has already been launched and will be completed very soon.
