Giant whales on the Ethereum (ETH) network have taken from various metaverse altcoins associated with the metaverse sector in the past seven days, according to data provided by WhaleStats, which tracks and shares major movements in blockchains.
According to on-chain data from WhaleStats, the virtual world The Sandbox (SAND) is currently by far the most purchased metaverse altcoin among Ethereum's top 5,000 whales in the past seven days. Whales made an average of 548 SAND purchases, with an average spend of $661 in SAND. Although SAND has risen over 10 percent in the past seven days, it continues to trade 86 percent below its all-time high of $8.40.
After SAND, the second metaverse altcoin that whales buy heavily was ApeCoin (APE). The Biggest 5,000 Ethereum whales have purchased an average of 81 APEs in the last seven days, with an average spend of about $390.
Right behind ApeCoin is Decentraland (MANA), the largest metaverse project at the time of writing in terms of market cap. Giant Ethereum whales have accumulated MANA with an average purchase of 372 tokens, with an average spend of $327 at the time of writing. MANA is down 85 percent from its all-time high, similar to its biggest rival, SAND, but is up 4 percent on the week.
Another metaverse altcoin on the radar of giant Ethereum whales is Enjin Coin (ENJ), an Ethereum-based blockchain game network. Ethereum whales received an average of 519 ENJs, with an average spend of $281. ENJ, the fifth most bought metaverse altcoin of the past seven days, is trading at $0.507, up over 8 percent weekly at the time of writing.
Right behind ENJ is Axie Infinity (AXS), an Ethereum-based win-as-you-play game. Giant whales made an average of 14 AXS purchases, with an average spend of $204. AXS is currently trading at $14.05, up 3% weekly, trading 91 percent below its all-time high.
In tenth place is the decentralized autonomous organization Yield Guild Games (YGG), a gaming guild focused on earning through blockchain-based games and investments in the metaverse. The largest 5,000 Ethereum whales have made an average of 15 YGG purchases in the past week, with an average spending of $10. YGG is trading at $0.67 at the time of writing, up 4% on the week.
