In their blog post, the Ethereum developer team clarified the date and location of the Devcon 7 event. Finally, it has been declared that the next round of ethics, held in Bogota, the capital of Colombia, will be held in Southeast Asia in 2024. The specific city in Southeast Asia will be announced in the coming period.
While the team stated that they thought about where the next Devcon will be held for a long time and got ideas from the community during the process, it was emphasized that Southeast Asia was preferred to interact and support local communities in different parts of the world:
“On the way to Devcon 7 in Southeast Asia, we aim to have the same local impact as in Bogota and provide more time for the burgeoning Ethereum community there to mature and further develop. We look forward to seeing new grassroots communities emerge.”
On the other hand, touching on why the event was not held in 2023, the team added that the more time they have for project and idea generation, the more information and content they can offer people:
“Planning Devcon 7 for 2024 saves us time. If we have more time, we can make this a world-class event again. A slower rhythm could make the event more accessible to those who want to attend but can’t travel to Devcon every year. What to wait the longer it is, the higher the expectation!”
According to the Global Crypto Adoption Index data, four countries in Southeast Asia are in the top 20, while Vietnam and the Philippines are ranked 1st and 2nd.
