Starting this week, Boring Company will allow customers traveling in Tesla Inc vehicles to pay with Dogecoin. As payments for Boring Company's public transportation service called Loop can be made easily using the QR system, customers will be able to make their payments with Dogecoin without difficulty.
With this latest initiative, it seems that Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk's effort to bring Dogecoin to the mainstream continues. As it is known, Musk has previously announced that Dogecoin payment is accepted for some products and services of Tesla and SpaceX.
Finally, Elon Musk, who received approval from the company's board of directors for the Twitter acquisition, played a leading role in the tremendous growth of the popular joke-themed crypto money, especially in 2020, by showing intense support for Dogecoin. Dogecoin (DOGE), which was purposelessly released as a joke in 2013, was an unpopular cryptocurrency until the support of Elon Musk.
On the other hand, Elon Musk's DOGE support caused some problems. An investor recently sued the world's richest person for a total of $258 billion in damages for allegedly creating a pyramid scheme scam in the promotion of DOGE. Speaking after the lawsuit, Elon Musk said that he would continue to support DOGE, and that he did not advise anyone to buy crypto money.
The Boring Company's announcement that it would accept Dogecoin for public transport services did not have a significant impact on the price of the cryptocurrency. DOGE price continues its horizontal course in July, moving with the market in general. The popular crypto currency, which has seen an increase in value of close to 2 percent since yesterday, is changing hands in the $ 0.068 band. Dogecoin remains the 10th largest cryptocurrency with a market cap of currently $9 billion.
