Japanese RPG industry giant Square Enix is teaming up with Ethereum-based metaverse altcoin The Sandbox (SAND) for a still medieval-themed RPG series.
In a new blog post, The Sandbox announced that they have partnered with Square Enix to bring Dungeon Siege, the game that chronicles the journey of a farmer and his friends to battle invading forces, to the metaverse.
The game will feature collectible terrains of virtual terrain and in-game gear in the form of NFTs, as well as the ability for players to create their own original adventures.
Square Enix, known for its world-famous RPG series Final Fantasy, first announced in January that they would take a closer look at blockchain technology and NFTs. Sebastien Borget, co-founder and chief operating officer of The Sandbox, says Dungeon Siege is an excellent choice for SAND.
"The RPG category is one of the most dynamic and popular parts of The Sandbox, making Dungeon Siege IP a great option for our community. Thanks to the Dungeon Siege experience on Square Enix's grounds, players will be able to create their own original missions inspired by classic games and inherit the legacy of the series. will move forward.”
SAND has previously partnered with world-renowned music label Warner Music Group, rap superstar Snoop Dogg, survival horror zombie series The Walking Dead, and others.
