Businesses that accept the leading cryptocurrency Bitcoin and the leading altcoin Ethereum as a payment method have now multiplied.

Besides BTC and ETH, more and more companies are now adopting prank coins like Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB) as payment methods.

Ask The Doctor (a Canadian-based medical news portal) has announced that it will add $1.5 million worth of cryptocurrencies to its balance sheet. After that, it was seen that the company, which also stated which altcoin it preferred, chose Shiba Inu.

To make this choice, the company (Ask The Doctor) asked its visitors which cryptocurrency they should invest in. As a result of the survey, it was seen that most of the site visitors who voted preferred SHIB.

However, the company also explained the reason why they support prank coins:

“Ask The Doctor platform loves all dog tokens and all cryptocurrencies. We advocate financial and health inclusion for all globally. So as a company, we look forward to the uses offered by cryptocurrencies like Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, and Floki.”

While the COVID-19 epidemic is still showing a great impact, 2021 witnessed many healthcare companies accepting payments with DOGE and SHIB. For example, PPE and medical device company CovCare claimed to be the first companies to accept DOGE as a payment method.

In addition, the Marchand Institute, a non-profit surgical institute, has also announced that it will now be paid by SHIB. Interestingly, Uritox Medical, a company that manufactures blood drug/alcohol test kits, has also announced that it will start receiving payments with SHIB.

So what is the reason for this interest in canine cryptocurrencies? According to experts, the answer may lie in the fact that small companies accept SHIB and Dogecoin payments and want to differentiate themselves from their large competitors and mega-corporations, which are largely tied to traditional payment policies.

Accepting prank coins as a payment method increases companies' online availability as prank coin communities are very active on social media.
