Cardano Protocol Hydra Live
Input Output Hong Kong (IOHK) announced that Hydra is available on the mainnet, setting a new standard for scalability in the proof-of-stake (PoS) network. In the video shared by Sebastian Nagel, a developer working on Cardano’s Hydra protocol, the purposes for the development of the protocol were mentioned. Nagel said the goal in developing the protocol was to make the main blockchain more usable by scaling transactions.
Hydra is considered a layer-2 that aims to support the adoption of Cardano in areas where cheap and fast transactions are required. The development of Hydra is considered one of the most important developments in the Cardano ecosystem this year. The launch of the new protocol on the mainnet has created excitement in the community, which believes it will position Cardano as a smart contract hub formidable in terms of scaling and transaction costs.
Commenting on the subject, Nagel stated that the new protocol is the first of the protocols that will help Cardano achieve the ultimate scalability it desires. Nagel also underlined that this is not an upgrade and therefore not subject to any hard fork.
