In the meeting between Former President of Argentina Mauricio Macri and Ethereum Co-Founder Vitalik Buterin, the main topic was the relationship of cryptocurrencies and Blockchain technology with governments.
Mauricio Macri noted that Ethereum is “one of the most innovative decentralized technologies” in the 21st century. Describing ETH as one of the most valuable currencies in the world, Macri said the main debate is the role cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology can play for governments.

According to Chainalysis, Argentina is one of the nine countries with the highest adoption of cryptocurrencies. The crypto community in the country is expanding rapidly as Argentines seek a way to protect the value of their money. Argentina continues to struggle with rising inflation. According to Bloomberg, the country's inflation rate is rising by around 50 percent annually. It is also struggling with recurrent currency crises. The South American country plans to allow trading of cryptocurrency futures on its regulated exchanges. Currently, cryptocurrencies lack legal but clearly defined regulations in the country.
