Arbitrum To Unlock $1.2 Billion ARB
According to Token Unlocks data, Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution Arbitrum will release $1 billion worth of ARB tokens in March next year. Thus, the dissolution process of the tokens, which is planned as 4 years, will begin. Designed to deliver scalable and low-cost smart contracts, the protocol will unlock 1.11 billion ARB tokens worth $1.25 billion on March 16. This amount to be released is equal to 87 percent of the token’s circulating 1.275 billion supply. At the time of writing, more than 5 billion ARB tokens remain locked.
Locking tokens means freezing and gradual opening of cryptocurrencies to prevent early investors or project team from making large sales. The Cliff method, on the other hand, allows locks to be released at a predetermined time interval. Following the March 16 release, Arbitrum will continue to unlock a certain amount of tokens every four weeks for four years.

Unlocking means releasing liquidity and lowering the price of the cryptocurrency. At the time of writing, ARB is trading at $1.12, down 4% month-on-month, according to TradingView data.
