Adam Aron, CEO of AMC Cinemas, announced that the world's largest movie theater chain will "likely" add support for the most popular meme coins, Dogecoin and Shiba Inu, this March.

"I have been repeatedly asked when AMC expects to routinely accept Dogecoin and Shiba Inu for any and all payments made via the AMC web site and mobile app. I am being told that we are still well on track for the promised Q1 implementation, with exact timing most likely in March."

It is said that two dog-themed cryptocurrencies will be accepted for any payment made through the company's website.

Aron conducted a survey at the end of October to find out if the company's customers would like to see the Shiba Inu among the available cryptocurrencies. The vast majority of respondents favored the addition of SHIB to AMC's pay program.

In mid-November, the CEO of AMC tweeted that the cinema chain will add support for the Shiba Inu in the next four months. This decision comes after Aron's Twitter followers overwhelmingly voted to be able to buy tickets with Dogecoin.

In October, AMC began accepting the original meme cryptocurrency for eGift cards. In November, the movie theater chain released Spider-Man-themed NFTs in partnership with Sony Pictures.
